It's Time to Let Georgians Bet on Sports
Sports wagering is rising dramatically throughout the country, bringing much needed revenue to states.
By 2024 it is estimated that 40 states will legalize sports wagering. It's time for Georgia to be the next.
New Jersey just reported a third straight record month: Operators generated approximately $58.5 million in revenue, while the state collected $7.4 million.
Other October betting figures include:
Indiana: $230.9 million
Iowa: $81.9 million
Michigan: $46.1 million
West Virginia: $44.6 million
Washington, D.C.: $4.2 million
We need to protect consumers, ensure the integrity of the games and bring new funding to the state and the Hope Scholarships.
The question is not whether Georgians are going to bet on sports. It’s whether they will wager in an illegal market or wager in a fully regulated environment.
