Former Atlanta COO joins Lexicon Strategies
Lisa Benjamin to focus on Public-Private Partnerships, Nonprofits & Corporate Affairs
Atlanta, GA – The former Chief Operating Officer for the City of Atlanta and CEO of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, Lisa Benjamin, today officially joined Lexicon Strategies as a Partner. Lexicon, lexiconstrategies.com, is a premier public affairs consulting firm that focuses on strategic communication, public relations and media affairs, government relations, public-private partnerships, and public health.
“I’m very excited to join Lexicon Strategies, one of the most influential consulting firms in the state. They have created a special brand in the marketplace and are on the cutting edge of creativity and achieving results. I look forward to using my experience, leadership, and skills to help business, non-profits, and public-private partnerships navigate our world and meet their strategic goals and objectives,” said Benjamin.
Co-founder and managing partner of Lexicon, Billy Linville, believes Benjamin will immediately impact the public and private sectors. “Lisa has extraordinary experience and accomplishments, with a skill set and personality that will be attractive to clients throughout Georgia and the country. She is a strategic leader and consensus builder, with an understanding of complex business issues and creating opportunities for success.”
Lexicon Strategies was founded in 2016 by Linville and managing partner, Brian Tolleson. “Our goal was to build a firm that solved the toughest challenges for our community. We want to deliver for our clients by finding the right thing to do and do it right. Lisa Benjamin fits that mold perfectly,” said Tolleson.
For more than 2 1/2 years, Benjamin served as the Chief Operating Officer for the City of Atlanta under Mayor Andre Dickens. She led a staff of 8,500 and was responsible for city operations, including public safety and emergency management, infrastructure, information technology, innovation, and the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Prior to that role, Benjamin served as president and CEO of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and led one of the highest producing and impactful affiliates in the country, serving over 1,000 families in five years. The organization was recognized as the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Best Charity in Metro Atlanta and the Best Place to Work by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
Benjamin was also the Vice President and COO of the Atlanta Beltline during its formative years and was instrumental in developing the strategy for implementing and opening the projects initial Eastside Trail and Historic Fourth Ward Park.
Along with Linville and Tolleson, other partners and professionals at Lexicon include Lori Geary and Dave Huddleston, both former Emmy-winning television news journalist; Ryan Roemerman, an innovative business strategist; Polly McKinney, a leader in integrating communications and policy; Sheryl Golub, a public health educator and global learning and curriculum development specialist; Amy Koonin Taylor, a content creator and crisis communication lead; and Bryan Leavoy, former managing editor for WSB-TV and digital and social media expert.
Per ethics guidelines, because Benjamin recently left city government, she will not do any business with the City of Atlanta for one year.
Lisa received her graduate degree from the The Maxwell School at Syracuse University and received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University. She also has a master's degree Nova Southeastern in Accounting. She is an avid golfer and lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
